Aug 21, 2010 11:58:53 AM - itnnews.lk

4540 Young women will be newly recruited for training as Nurses.

In parallel to this programme, 511 young women who had succeeded the GCE Advanced level examination in the Galle, Matara and Hambantota Districts have been recruited for training at the Nurses Training College at Hambantota. Deputy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera was present on this occasion. Addressing the new recruits, he said that during Ranil Wickramasinghe’s term of office, no one was even recruited even as a labourer to the Health service. But the present Government always considered to provide a productive service by strengthening the public sector. The public service has doubled since the assumption of office by President Rajapaksa.

Health Services Director General Dr. Ajith Mendis was among those present.
