Aug 22, 2010 12:09:45 PM - itnnews.lk

The Grade Five Scholarship Examination was successfully held throughout the country today.

313 thousand 450 students were eligible to sit the exam at two thousand 744 centres. Our representatives said that the enthusiasm in the students who were walking to the examination centres was evident in all areas. The examination could be successfully held in the North and East due to the peaceful environment prevailing in those areas. The Education Director of the Mullaitivu Zone M. Devendra said that four examination centres were set up in the Mullaitivu district for the children of the resettled families. Nine examination centres were held in the Gamini Maha Vidyalaya in Vavuniya for the students who are temporarily staying in the welfare villages and at the relatives’ places. Our representatives said that all students sat the exam in Jaffna and Wanni areas in the peaceful climate. A high level of enthusiasm was evident in the students from Colombo and other areas. Required facilities were provided for the students in the plantation sector as well. There were complaints regarding invigilators who helped the students illegally. Commissioner General of Examinations Anura Edirisinghe said three such invigilators were removed. The sealed answer scripts were sent to the evaluation centres following the examination. The Examination Department expects to issue the results early.
