South Carolina tight end Weslye Saunders has been suspended indefinitely for breaking team rules.
Head Coach Steve Spurrier on Monday evening said the suspension is not related to the ongoing NCAA investigation or the Whitney Hotel situation.
"Weslye has been ... temporarily suspended for a violation of team rules," Spurrier said. "And his situation will be determined a little later."
Asked if suspension was tied to NCAA probe, Spurrier said, "He was suspended for a violation of team rules, nothing to do with the NCAA."
Saunders, who is being investigated by the NCAA for possible illegal activity with an agent, was one of the players who were staying at the Whitney. NCAA investigators have interviewed a number of players about their living arrangements at the Columbia hotel.
