Anti-tax group hires consultant

A Richland County group fighting a transportation tax on the November ballot has hired a political consultant.
Rod Shealy Jr. will be working for the Citizens Against a Tax Increase, co-chairman Michael Letts said Monday. Letts said the campaign will include radio and direct mail.
Last week, the Greater Columbia Chamber confirmed it had hired a coordinator for its Citizens for a Greater Midlands campaign.
Voters will decide Nov. 2 whether to allow an additional penny-on-the-dollar sales tax to pay for road improvements, bus service, bike lanes, sidewalks and greenways.
