The lawyer for an Orangeburg mother charged in the deaths of her two young sons said Tuesday he is postponing his request for a bail bond hearing this week until he receives discovery information from state prosecutors.
That information would tell him more about the case that law enforcement is building and enable him to make a better argument to free 29-year-old Shaquan Duley before trial, said attorney Carl B. Grant.
Grant said he also has made a motion to 1st Circuit Solicitor David Pascoes office to produce that information. Prosecutors must produce it within 30 days.
Pascoe confirmed Grants motion and said he had no objection to delaying the bond hearing.
Duley is charged with suffocating her two toddler sons, strapping their bodies into car seats and driving the car they were in into a local river. She is in the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center.
