The distribution of school text books for next year will be carried out today. This was revealed by the Commissioner General for Educational Publications Jayantha Pushpakumara.
He opined that the new text books warehouse complex will be opened by Minister Bandula Gunawardena today. In parallel the distribution of text books among schools for next year will also be launched today. The foundation stone for the launch of the second stage of the building complex will take place in parallel to these events. Mr. Pushpakumara noted that with the opening of new complex, the Educational Publications Department would be able save a large sum of funds as they have stocked the text books in rented warehouses at present. The monthly expenditure incurred on this is about 1.4 million rupees. He mentioned that the annual savings will amount to 16.8 million rupees. With the opening of new warehouse complex they would be able to handle the distribution of books efficiently.
