Firefighters are clearing the scene of a ruptured natural gas leak that happened earlier this morning near Columbia College, prompting the evacuation of a college building and the closing of a busy intersection.
A two-inch line was ruptured by a S.C. Department of Transportation crew working at the intersection of Columbia College Drive and North Main Street, said interim fire chief Aubrey Jenkins.
The accident occurred between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
There were no injuries reported, Jenkins said.
