New CLT20 format gives a fair chance: Mahela

Aug 25, 2010 8:00:00 PM - aussieindolanka.com
After being knocked out of the previous edition of the Champions League T20 tournament due to net run-rate, Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardene says this year’s format of putting the 10 teams in two groups will give the teams a fair chance of making it to the last four. "Last year we just played two games, and were knocked out on the basis of poor run rate. Team did not have a realistic chance to settle in the tournament. This time each team will play minimum of four matches and all teams will have a good chance to show their class and get to know about their opponents," Jayawardene, who will play for Lankan T20 side Wayamba Eleven, wrote in The Hindu. "There will be no easy games in the tournament and every team has to give more than 100 per cent to do well in the tournament. But at the same time we are not afraid of the big names. We know that in T20 cricket any team can win on any given day. We have the self-belief to pull off some upsets and qualify for the later rounds", he added.   Read More :cricketnext.in.com/news/mahela-impressed-by-new-clt-20-format/50046-13.html
