There's talk of changing the name of the University of South Carolina Beaufort to reflect a broader regional approach.
One suggestion is USC Sea Islands.
The Beaufort Gazette reports vice chancellor Lynn McGee has been getting the opinions of community leaders.
Any name change would have to be approved by the main University of South Carolina's Board of Trustees.
USC-Beaufort will have to decide if it makes sense to do market research on any new name. The four-year school expects enrollment to almost double to 3,000 students in the next five years.
