Authorities say a South Carolina man has been killed after Flagstaff police responded to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex.
Police say 78-year-old Kenneth Mitchell, of Gilbert, S.C., was arguing with his son Wednesday night and a shotgun was involved.
Three officers responded to the apartment complex Wednesday night after a caller stated that one of the people inside was armed. Police say one of the officers fired through a window and hit Mitchell, who later died at Flagstaff Medical Center.
Police say the victim's 33-year-old son - Kenneth "Christopher" Mitchell - has been booked into the county jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, threatening and intimidating and disorderly conduct.
Police say the officer who fired the shot has been placed on paid administrative leave while the incident is being investigated.
