The Ministry of Economic Development has said that Minister Basil Rajapaksa’s visit to India has helped to strengthen bilateral relations in several fields.
The Sri Lankan delegation consisting of Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga returned from India this morning following a successful visit. The delegation had discussions with Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pavar, Tourism Minister Kumari Selja, Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao, Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar and National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon during the visit.
The Indian authorities have pledged continuous support for the massive development programme of the Government that includes rebuilding of the North and East. India has extended support for increased cooperation in many fields including tourism and to launch several new projects.
