Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris has said that the economic growth rate set by Sri Lanka is an example to many other countries in the world.
The Minister said that the country is proud about the progress it is making with regard to the economy. He said that maintaining an economic growth rate of 7% is a great achievement. He stressed that the President is not only concerned about the increase in the momentum of economic development but its equitable distribution as well. He said that the development must go to the village.
The Minster expressed this view while participating in the Annual Convocation of the Sri Lanka Engineers Institute. Certificates were presented to 233 graduates who underwent training at the Institute. A large number of intellectuals, Parliamentarians and Ministers participated in the occasion.
