Construction work on the Pansalgoda bridge at Rakwana which was launched on the instructions of the President has been successfully completed.
The Pansalgoda bridge which was about 100 years old was in a dilapidated condition. As a result, the people of the area experienced severe hardships. Taking into consideration these difficulties, the President instructed the Sabaragamuwa Provincial council to take necessary initiatives to put up a new bridge. Accordingly, the construction work which cost 5.2 million rupees was completed within a very short period. Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath who undertook an inspection tour was optimistic that it could be declared open very soon.
