It has been five years since Hurricane Katrina sent hundreds of thousands of Gulf Coast residents in search of refuge in cities such as Chicago. But while some evacuees have struggled with unemployment, emotional ties to their former homes and Chicago's harsh winters, many have embraced the city as their own.
