The second stage of the “Nagamu Purawara” programme gets underway.
The purpose of this effort is to upgrade common amenities of urban habitats in the Colombo City. The second stage was launched at Nawagampura today with the participation of Minister Wimal Weerawansa. 170 programmes are being launched under 62 Colombo urban habitat projects. 183 programmes will be mooted outside the city in parallel. One of the main objectives is to find solutions to many problems the people of urban habitats experienced for a long period.
The Housing Development Authority and the State Engineering Corporation are among the many institutions which are contributing to this programme. With the completion of this stage, the people will receive benefits to the value of about 100 million rupees. Special Administrator of the Colombo Municipal Council Omar Khamil was among those present.
