More donations are being received from Sri Lankans in the Middle East for the “Api Wenuven Api” Housing Fund.
The funds collected from a Ranaviru Gee musical extravaganza jointly organized by the Sri Lankan Embassy, the Consul General’s Office and Sri Lankans in the United Arab Emirates have been donated to this fund. The Ven. Bengamuwe Na laka thera handed over a sum of 3.9 million rupees to the President. Parliamentarian Janaka Priyantha Bandara and a group of Sri Lankans serving in the United Arab Emirates were present.
In the meantime, a programme to donate books for the benefit of students who are visiting the Temple Trees has been unveiled. “Room to Reach” Organisation has come forward to implement the programme from next month. It is planned to provide a pack containing 100 books for school libraries. The first parcel was presented to the President by Sri Lanka Director of the Room to Reach Organisation Glen Fri De Mel. It agreed to build many schools, pre-schools and libraries in the Mannar district.
