The memorial built for the gallant soldiers who laid down their lives on behalf of the country was inaugurated at the Infantry Training Centre at Minneriya.
The function was held under the patronage of Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya at the Minneriya Infantry Training Square yesterday.
The Abhimansala Housing Complex is being constructed opposite the Nuwara wewa in Anuradhpura for the soldiers who were disabled or totally disabled in the operation carried out to eliminate terrorism. Eastern Commander Maj. Gen. Boniphus Perera handed over 11 million rupees for the remaining work.
Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Minneriya Infantry Training Centre Brigadier D.A. Amunugama and members of the security forces participated in the occasion.
