Officials have identified a Georgia woman as the second burned body found earlier this month in South Carolina.
Multiple media outlets reported that Aiken County Sheriff's Capt. Troy Elwell said the second body was that of 38-year-old Shalamar Byrd of Augusta, Ga.
Byrd's body was found in some woods in a fire Aug. 11 about an hour after the body of 75-year-old Yana Schenker's body was found burned in her Aiken County home.
Investigators say both women died of asphyxiation.
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton says a partial fingerprint was used by the State Law Enforcement Division to identify Byrd. Carlton says DNA testing with Byrd's mother reinforced the identification.
