The Asian Development Bank will provide 154.4 million dollars for the implementation of Northern Road Connectivity Project.
According to a release issued by the Ministry of Finance the total investment cost of this project amounts to 173 million US dollars of which Government will contribute 18.6 million US dollars equivalent.
The main objective of the project is to improve road connectivity within the Northern Province and between Northern Province and the Southern Region of Sri Lanka.
170 kilometers of National Highways consisting of 108 kilometers in the Northern Province 62 kilometers in the North Central will be upgraded under the project. 140 kilometers of provincial roads will be rehabilitated. The Project is scheduled to be completed by 30th June 2015.
