The funeral of Lakshman Jayakody, a Senior leader of the leftist movement and a veteran politician will take place at Divulapitiya day after tomorrow.
Lakshman Jayakody entered Parliament by winning the Divulapitiya electorate in 1960. Since then he had held various portfolios in the political field. The services rendered by him as Deputy Minister of State Defence and Foreign Affairs in 1970 was priceless. He held the Cultural and Religious Affairs Ministerial portfolio of the People’s Alliance Government. At the time of his death, he was serving as a Presidential Advisor. Several Parliamentarians including Minister Basil Rajapaksa paid their last respects to Lakshman Jayakody. The remains are lying at his residence at Balagalla in Divulapitiya.
