The Sri Lanka Transport Board is to provide a service in parallel to the Railways time-tables. Accordingly, if any commuter misses the train, an opportunity would be provided for him to reach his office by bus.
Minister Kumara Welgama is mulling over the launching of the new programme in the near future. The Minister has decided to travel by train to his office on every Public Day with the intention of deciding on an efficient transport service on behalf of the commuters. The Minister arrived at the Rambukkana Station at 4.00 am today and discussed problems of the commuters as well as Railway officials. It was the opinion of the commuters that the trains are operating on schedule due to the Minister’s novel initiative. The launching of the bus service in parallel to the train service is a proposal made by commuters to the Minister.
