Mrs. Rao, who is on a four-day official visit to Sri Lanka, undertook a tour of the East this morning. During a meeting with Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, the Indian Foreign Secretary inquired into the prevailing situation in the area. Mr Chandrakanthan apprised her of the resettlement process as well as the development projects that are in place during the meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office.

Thereafter, she called on Eastern Governor Rear Admiral Mohan Wijewickrema. The Governor clarified to her the situations which prevailed in the Province during and after the war. Mrs. Rao attended a special Pooja at the Sri Konneswaram temple in Trincomalee. She viewed the area set aside for the launch of the Coal Power Plant in Sampur.
