City of Columbia water officials this morning lifted their "boil water" notice for residents of the Bluff Road area between Idlewild Boulevard and Interstate 77.
The boil water advisory was issued Tuesday while tests of the water continued. City labs picked up evidence of bacterial contamination after city workers repaired a 10-inch water main in the area.
Residents affected included those in the Arthurtown subdivision and the large apartment complexes along Bluff that are home to many USC students, including The Retreat, The Lofts and Copperbeach.
Residents were advised to boil water vigorously and for at least one minute and to avoid using ice made from water that had not been boiled during that time.
