A new reservoir is being constructed to supply water for hundreds of acres of paddy land in Wennappuwa.
The aim is to store water to cultivate 245 acres of paddy fields during the Yala and Maha seasons. The two acre reservoir is being constructed on the advice of Minister Milroy Fernando. The Agrarian Services Department is providing the required funds. The reservoir would provide water for the daily needs of 200 families in the Melwatta fishing village.
