Immediate solutions will be found to urban dwellers in the Colombo City who live with lss facilities. Ministr Wimal Weerawansa said that 170 projects are being implemented under the “Ngamu Purawara” Programme.
Mr. Weerawansa pointed out that his Ministry has decided to improve common amenities of the Colombo City dwellers, based on the President’s “Nagamu Purawara” programme. They planned to launch the initial stage on World Habitat Day this year. The Minister opined that they hoped to meet all the needs of the households in Housing Schemes in Colombo coming under the purview of the National Housing Development Authority and those living in other areas with less facilities.
The Minister inspected some of the projects that in operation. These included the Henamulla scheme in Madampitiya, Aliwatte in Mattakkuliya, Paradise in Maligawatte, the Scheme at Arama Road in Dematagoda, Seevalipura and the Suiddharthapura scheme in Kirulapone. The Minister emphasized that the intention of the Government was to uplift the living standards of dwellers. He assured firm steps in this respect.
