The Indian Army Commander has arrived in Sri Lanka strengthening Indo-Lanka defence cooperation.
Indian Army Commander General V.K. Singh arrived in Sri Lanka on a five-day official visit. The Indian Army Commander and his wife were welcomed at the Airport by the Sri Lankan Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya and his wife. The Indian Army Chief was accorded a red carpet welcome. He is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with the Defence Secretary, Commander of the Sri Lankan Army and several high ranking officials. The new measures to be taken in the defence sector in the aftermath of the conflict will be studied. The Indian Army Commander is expected to travel in several Northern areas including Vavuniya.
