Rs. 30,000 for Samurdhi beneficiaries who lack electricity

Sep 5, 2010 12:05:26 PM - itnnews.lk

Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said that 30 thousand rupees will be granted for the Samurdhi beneficiaries who do not have electricity connections.

This amount will be paid for all Samurdhi beneficiary families whose houses are without electricity supply. The money will be retrieved in instalments after a grace period of one month along with the electricity bill. The government has made arrangements to divert the funds used on the war towards development work. The Minister pointed out that the maximum amount of benefits should be extended to the low income families. He expressed this view at the progress review meeting of the Mirigama Divisional Development Committee. Chief Minister of the Western Province Prasanna Ranatunga was also present.
