A Japanese delegation that includes Buddhist monks has appreciated the programmes launched in Sri Lanka under the patronage of President Rajapaksa.
The group of Japanese monks from the Shodoshima Daikonnon Temple in Japan is visiting Sri Lanka at the invitation of the Ven. Pelpola Vipassi thera. They met the President yesterday at the Temple Trees. They pledged their full support to the President to carry forward the development process. The delegation said their visit will further strengthen historic ties between the two countries. The President presented a Buddha statue made of sandalwood to the chief monk and Buddha statues to other members of the delegation. President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga was among those present.
