Massive walks are being staged supporting the 18th Constitutional Amendments. According to our correspondent, heavy traffic congestion is reported on many roads.
Reports said that people from Colombo and suburban areas are on their way to Parliament staging a demonstration in support of the constitutional amendments. A walk was organized from the Kollupitya Junction where the people have organized in support of the amendments. Minister Basil Rajapaksa reached the location to express his gratitude to the people. Parliamentarians Dallas Alahapperuma, Kumara Welgama, Mervyn Silva and Prasanna Ranatunga joined in this demonstration.
Thousands of people have joined the walk that is being staged from Borella to the Parliamentary Complex. They raised their voices extending full support to the 18th amendment.
Another massive walk was being organized from the Kaduwela direction. Among the participants are Trade Union stalwarts and political representatives. They emphasized that the 18th Amendment was a massive strength to the country.
