Measures are being taken to solve the housing problems pertaining to the fisher folk in the Trincomalee District.
A programme was launched under the patronage of Deputy Minister Susantha Punchinilame to provide the houses for the fisher folk in the Uppural area. The development work in the area had stopped due to terrorist activities in the area during the past. In initial phase 100 houses will be granted for them. Measures were also taken to solve their drinking water problem. The project costs 3.6 million rupees.
