Sep 10, 2010 11:05:29 AM - itnnews.lk

The development operation of the country which has been liberated from the terrorists is now in place. 65,000 houses are being built for the benefit of illegal slum dwellers through the second humanitarian operation.

These references were made by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rjapaksa unveiling the project plans for the building of permanent houses for illegal slum dwellers in Colombo. It is planned to construct houses for 65 thousand families who are living illegally in the Colombo City. The Housing Project is due to be completed within three and a half years. Another objective of the plan is to hand over the land occupied by illegal dwellers to investors based on its commercial value. The Defence Secretary pointed out that this would enable to transform Colombo into a streamlined commercial City while improving the living standards of the illegal slum dwellers.
