Special training for nurses

Special training will be provided for nurses to improve the quality of Health Service.

Minister Maithripala Sirisena said that a list of available drugs and their prices should be displayed in every hospital. He said that the patients at least should have a knowledge of the expenditure incurred by the Government on drugs. The Government is spending more than nine billion dollars for free health services during this year. He said that the heads of institutions as well as the public should be aware of the value of drugs.

The Minister was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a special training programme launched for the nurses. 350 nurses will be trained under the first phase of the programme. Training will be provided with regard to leadership, concept, skills development and psychological development. The Health Ministry is planning to provide the training for all those who will be recruited as nurses.
