Macroeconomic numbers of low inflation and interest rates coupled with high growth has made a multinational logistics provider which launched itself in the island on Tuesday positive about prospects in the country.
Shankar Chatterjee, Managing Director India and South Asia, Bertling Logistics Group which is headquartered in Germany, told reporters that he didn’t consider the global recession a bar to investments in Sri Lanka.
He further said that the feedback they received after doing a market study on the island was positive.
Chatterjee said that they have had proactively positioned themselves in the country to take advantage of the openings that would follow.
The company which is into project logistical services is gearing itself to take advantage of infrastructure development works such as power and ports, mainly to assist in the movement of heavy equipment needed for such, especially to those areas where there is poor physical connectivity which could be circumvented because of its logistical expertise. The company has partnered itself with FPS Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd., to provide those services.
