The number of air flights between Sri Lanka and Japan are to be increased. Various programmes are afoot in Japan to increase the number of Japanese tourists arriving in Sri Lanka. A major Exhibition is being held in Japan to mark Sri Lanka Day.
Giving views from Tokyo our special representative Indrasiri Suraweera said that accordingly action has been initiated to increase the number of flights operating between the two countries from three to five. The Japanese Embassy said it is confident that this would increase the number of Japanese visiting the island. Creating the required background in this respect is considered at the Sri Lanka Day at the Exhibition held in Japan. The Embassy was of the view that it would eliminate the fear the Japanese had in visiting Sri Lanka, as peace has dawned with the total elimination of terrorism.
