A computer containing information related to the LTTE cadres who migrated to Canada recently has been missing. Toronto police are carrying out investigations.
A computer containing the names, birth certificates and contact information of the 492 Tamils who arrived in British Columbia last month aboard the MV Sun Sea was stolen during a break-in at the headquarters of the Canadian Tamil Congress.
The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada had placed a publication ban on the names of the migrants. The CTC has most of their names on file because the group has been working to connect the ship’s passengers with family back home. Toronto police confirmed that they are investigating the break-in. No arrests have been made.
