The market capitalization of the Colombo Stock has topped two trillion rupees for the first time in its history. This vast improvement is attributed to the continuous economic stability prevailing in the country.
Deputy Director General Colombo Stock Exchange Malik Cader said Sri Lankan shares rose sharply today, as a bull run that has made Colombo Asia’s second best performing bourse, continued with market capitalisation topping two trillion rupees for the first time.
The All Share Price Index closed at 6,131.22, up 1.79 percent (107.81 points) while the more liquid Milanka Index rose 2.50 percent (157.04) to close at 6,435.35, according to stock exchange provisional figures.
He said the turnover was 4.3 billion rupees.
