The raising of initial objections to the Presidential election petition draws to an end. The ruling has been postponed.
The hearing of the petition was conducted for three days in the presence of a five-Judge Supreme Court Bench headed by Chief Justice Ashoka de Silva. President’s Counsel D.S. Wijesinghe appearing on behalf of the President said the petition should be rejected as the petitioner Sarath Fonseka lacks sufficient details for its continuation. Attorney Upul Jayasuriya who appeared on behalf of the petitioner pointed out that he was ready to prove the malpractices that had taken place during the Presidential election.
