Former USC president takes Ohio State post

Former University of South Carolina president Andrew Sorensen is leaving his position in the universitys School of Medicine to become Ohio State Universitys chief fundraiser.
"Dr. Sorensen is one of the countrys most senior leaders in higher education, and we are remarkably fortunate to have attracted him to lead the universitys comprehensive development efforts," Ohio State President E. Gordon GeeÖ said in a statement released by Ohio State. "Andys experience, wisdom and strategic vision will be enormously valuable in engaging alumni and friends in new ways to secure a strong financial foundation for the work of our students, faculty and staff."
In a telephone interview from the Ohio State campus on Wednesday, Sorensen said he has known Gee - a former president of Vanderbilt University - for many years and was intrigued by the opportunity to work with him.
"Its an exciting new opportunity," Sorensen said.
