British govt sees progress

British Minister for the Middle East and South Asia Alistair Burt, answering oral questions has told the British parliament that the British government was aware of the ground situation in Sri Lanka, and human rights and media freedom situation have improved in Sri Lanka after the conflict with the LTTE ended. The minister also said that the UK government is continuing a dialogue with the Sri Lanka Government, as well as the NGOs including the UNHRC, over the plight of remaining internally displaced (IDPs) in the camps, and the British government has spent 13.5 million pounds to support IDPs.   Read more:www.dailynews.lk/2010/09/16/news03.asp
