A wealth of activities this weekend in Columbia will bring thousands to the city's entertainment areas, a phenomenon police say warrants additional patrols to curtail crime.
An estimated 125,000 visitors are expected in the city over the next three days because of 15 events, including the Benedict-S.C. State and Carolina-Furman football games, USC parents weekend, the Kick'in Cancer Night Owl Ride, the Greek Festival, a Colonial Life Arena concert and the House of Prayer 82nd Annual Convocation/Parade.
The police department response includes patrol saturation with foot, patrol car and T3 electric standup vehicles.
