The Second Court Martial has ruled that Former Army Chief Sarath Fonseka is guilty of all charges.
He was accused of engaging in flouting the military hardware procurement process while he was serving as the Army Commander. The military court found that Fonseka favoured the HiCorp, an arms company run by his son-in-law. He was found guilty of all four charges. As Commander in Chief, the President is vested with the task of ratifying the ruling of the Court Martial. Accordingly, the Media Centre for National Security said that the Second Court Martial would direct its verdict to the President for his approval.
