The Batticaloa District considers today as a day of mourning. The civilians are mourning the deaths caused by the blast at the Karadiyanaru Police Station.
26 persons including Police Officers died as a result of the explosion of three containers of dynamite which were parked at the Police Station. Our correspondent said that all political and other groups have hoisted white flags in the Batticaloa town as a mark of respect to the Police Officers and civilians who lost their lives in this tragic incident. Shops within the City and its suburbs have put their shutters down.
In the meantime the CID and special police teams are carrying out the probe into the explosion.
