The anti-Ranil Wickremesinghe sentiments in the UNP have further increased with the UNP members in the Galle District passing a resolution to organize a protest march to Colombo in two weeks to hand over a petition to Wickremesinghe asking him to step down from the party leadership.
UNP Southern Provincial Councilor Maithri Gunaratne has said the resolution was passed yesterday (19).
Another resolution had been passed calling on the party to seek the opinion of provincial councilors and local government members when taking important decisions of the party.
UNPers in the Galle District had also decided to call on the party leadership to implement the party reforms before the next local government elections to enable the UNP candidates to contest the polls more confidently.
The decisions of the Galle District UNPers follow similar resolutions passed by UNPers in several other districts during the weekend.
