President Rajapaksa is scheduled to address the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) conference today.
The World leaders conference on Millennium Development Goals is now being held before the commencement of the 65th Summit of the UN General Assembly. The President is the second speaker from among 30 Heads of State or Governments billed to speak today. The sessions commenced at 10.00 a.m. New York time, which is 7.30 p.m Sri Lanka time. The first speech was due to be made by Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych. He is due to be followed by the Sri Lankan President. Among other leaders due to speak are the Chilean President, the Iceland Prime Minister, the Palestinian Prime Minister and the US President. Tomorrow is the general debate of the General Assembly. A notable feature is the opportunity afforded for President Rajapaksa to address the meeting on the inaugural day of the general debate.
