A function was held to greet Sanuja Kalhan Edirisinghe who has topped the Grade Five Scholarship Examination results.
The function was held this morning at Dharmapala Vidyalaya in Pannipitiya under the patronage of Minister Bandula Gunawardena. Bank of Ceylon donated 100,000 rupees to the student while a ‘Nena-pahana’ Scholarship was also offered to him which would last until he finishes education. Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association also granted him a scholarship to provide required school books.
Meanwhile special functions will be held to greet the three students who are placed in the second place. Naveen Yasanka Premaratne who obtained 194 marks has achieved the second place. His class teacher said that the student has shown talent for extracurricular activities as well. The student said that all have helped him to achieve exemplary results in the examination.
Kalani Pabasara of Meegahatenna Primary School in Kalutara and Lakith Navodya of Mahinda College in Galle are also placed in the second place. Chief Minister of the Southern Province Shan Wijayalal de Silva visited Lakith Navodya at his home and greeted him. Kalani Pabasara of Meegahatenna Primary School also achieved 194 marks. Her teachers pointed out that she has always shown talent in her studies. Pabasara said that she did not experience any pressure when sitting the exam.
