The Indian Government gives assistance for the construction of 2250 houses.
The Indian Government has taken the initiative of re-building 1000 houses ravaged by terrorist activities in the Vavuniya District, in addition to the building of 1200 new houses in areas where civilians had been resettled. The intention is to complete work on the Project within one year. Nearly 500 thousand rupees will be spent on a new house. An Indian delegation visited Vavuniya yesterday and inquired into the progress of the work. Thereafter the Indian team had talks with GA Vavuniya G.S.M. Charles.
