Grade Five top scorers feted

Thanuja Kalhan Edirisinghe, who topped the list at the Grade Five Scholarship Examination, has earned acclamation.

A ceremony to honour the student who is studying at Dharmapala College Pannipitiya was held under the patronage of Minister Bandula Gunawardena this morning. The Bank of Ceylon handed over a cash of award of 100 thousand rupees to this brilliant student who received the highest marks of 164. A Nenapahana scholarship was also awarded to the student. It will be effective until he completes his studies. The Sri Lanka Books Publishers Association also granted him a scholarship for which he will be entitled to receive books he needs for his education.

Meanwhile, ceremonies were also organized to honour the three students who came second in the Scholarship Examination by receiving 194 marks.

Naveen Yasanka Premaratne of the Horagasmulla Primary in Divulapitiya was feted for securing g the second place. The class teacher said that he displays his skills in extracurricular activities too.

Kalani Pabasara of the Meegahatenne Primary School in Kalutara and Lakith Navodya of Mahinda College Galle also came second at the Examination.. Southern Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal De Silva visited the residence of Lakith Navodya and felicitated him.

Kalani Pabasara is the other student who came second. Her teachers pointed that she displayed her skills in education from her childhood.
