The first "Deep Orange" car created by Clemson University graduate students will be on display in Greenville.
The electric car will be unveiled Thursday as part of Motorsports on Main. The event kicks off the Petit Le Mans race week in Atlanta.
Students in Clemson's two-year graduate automotive engineering program are required to make a new prototype vehicle.
School officials say the program's first such car is powered by lithium-polymer batteries. It can reach a top speed of 100 miles per hour and accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 10 seconds.
The car will be on display next month in Pasadena, Calif., at the Art Center College of Design's Classic Car Show.
