Minister Johnston Fernando has said that the network of cooperatives will be computerized within four months.
The Minister said that the cooperative sector should start utilizing modern technology. That is why it was decided to computerize the cooperative network through the ‘COPNET’. He said that following the computerization he will be able to find out about cooperatives in any region at the Ministry itself. The Provincial Ministers, Secretaries and the Commissioners too will be able to learn about the latest developments including profits and loses at their offices without making field visits.
The Minister made this observation at a Provincial Cooperative Ministers’ Conference. The provincial Chief Ministers and Cooperative Ministers informed about the progress made in the cooperative sector in their respective provinces.
