Construction work on the “Abhimansala” Ranaviru Resort for the welfare of disabled soldiers is in the final stage.
It will be equipped with a hospital, a sports pavilion, a swimming pool and special lodging facilities for relatives of the war heroes. The “Adhimansala” project has been launched with contributions made by the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, the Brave Hearts Project and various philanthropists. It can provide accommodation to 250 soldiers who have been totally rendered disabled during the humanitarian operations. Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya who joined in a tour to inspect the progress of the work was confident that Abhimansala, which is under construction in Anuradhapura, can be opened in January. Wanni Commanding Officer Major Gen. Kamal Gunaratne was among those who joined him on this occasion.
